About the Role

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. Provides professional nursing care within the Emergency Department and coordinates care planning with other disciplines including the transport care of the patient. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Is able to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with Emergency Department physicians about changes in patient’s status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment and provide interventions as needed within the emergency room and or on the ambulance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge & Experience
Skills-
The employee must be 21 or older to drive RMH vehicles and have a driving record that is eligible to meet the satisfactory driving record standard conducted during the background check to be eligible for the position.
The applicant's job offer is contingent on eligibility and if the applicant does not have a valid driver's license or has a diving record that falls at or below the criteria, the applicant will not be hired for positions where driving is an essential job function.
Demonstrates ability to complete applicable competencies
Demonstrates ability to give and follow instructions accurately
Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with various health care personnel, law enforcement, fire personnel and bystanders
Must possess and maintain a valid Operator’s License from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles with a clean driving record
Must complete EVOC.
Knowledge-
BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support concepts and measures
Pediatric Advanced Life Support concepts and measures
TNCC preferred
EVOC training
Education-
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the state of Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
Must have successfully completed American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac life Support, and Pediatric Advanced life Support.
Experience-
A minimum of 2 years of Emergency Medical Services experience preferred
