About the Role

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assess leisure and recreational needs of the community by maintaining continuing
contact through meetings, public presentations and correspondence with community
leaders, civic groups, public officials, and devices to implement plans and programs to
address identified needs.
Maintains regular communication with department professional and non-professional
staff regarding department activities and project status, and offers technical assistance as
needed.
Assists in supervising assigned work crew on a daily basis and monitors crew to ensure
compliance with assigned instructions.
Oversight of Prairie Creek Reservoir network management, social media, website
administration, remote security management, and management of other various
computer/internet-based accounts and programs.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

Represents department before various boards and commissions as needed, including
Parks and Recreational Boards and City Council.
Maintains employee work records, reporting hours and work accomplished, routes
payroll cards to appropriate person or department, maintains all financial records.
Maintains department personnel records, recording vacations, sick leave, and personal
days.
Maintains inventory of department equipment, materials, and supplies, and submits
requisitions as needed.
Maintains accounts receivable records, posting and balancing as required, receive and
post payments, deposits, invoicing, collection calls as needed, and bookkeeping.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Incumbent performs duties indoors and out of doors, and is required to communicate with
community leaders, civic groups, and public officials in formal and informal settings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to analyze and interpret a wide variety of data and information, drawing
appropriate inferences and conclusions.
Thorough knowledge of department functions and ability to direct operations and staff
consistent with program goals.
Ability to express thoughts and ideas in a clear and effective manner, both orally and in
writing.
Working knowledge of principles and technique of budgeting and grant writing.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Working knowledge of safety procedures for working in or around department equipment
and/or working around electricity.
Ability to life between 50-100 pounds.
Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Ability to supervise crews.
